New UI theme - Stormrage

Art by Qichao Wang, theme by KaGe

Embark upon Illidan Stormrage's realm, where his relentless pursuit of power and redemption blazes forth in this homage, encapsulating the eternal saga within your interface. The demon hunters, distinguished by their iconic blindfolds veiling spectral, incandescent eyes, brandish the twin blades of the Illidari with unrivaled grace and precision. As the vanguard against the Burning Legion, they harness their infernal powers, wielding them against the very fiends from which they draw their strength.

In Blizzard's endeavor to harness this hero, they fail to fathom that the progenitor of the Illidari sees not through eyes, but through the fiery might that ignites the passion of elven players, immortalizing him with their fervent emulation. His legacy transcends mere sight, ignited by the fervor that blazes within the hearts of those who honor his name.

The new Launcher

During season 16, the new launcher became required to use for playing 2v2, 4v4 and Legion TD 4v4. This change was made in order to reduce joinbugs, and we have seen a significant reduction of them. We will continue working on making match creation as smooth as possible, by working on eliminating bugs, and incurring bans on players intentionally leaving on the loading screen.

We have also added unit/ability hotkeys in the launcher. Thank you Valuesnack for the hard work making this possible! Next we will add the possibility to change to a grid layout.

3v3 Ladder comes to W3Champions

As an extremely popular game mode on BNet, 3v3 has long been asked for by the community to be added to the W3Champions ladder. As Winter comes, activity is at its highest on our platform and we feel that now is as good as ever to launch it, and see where it goes. Make sure to tell your BNet friends to come try it out!

We will re-evaluate after S17 whether the player base can support 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 all at once, and see what we can adjust.

New stats on the website

In order to get a deeper understanding of players' gaming patterns, we present you new charts to empower your analysis of your strategies.

Player Game Length

This chart provides a visual representation of the distribution of players' game lengths over time, allowing you to analyze and adjust strategies. You will be able to specify the opponent races to understand the player behavior against each race.

Access this feature by visiting the Player Profile and scrolling to the bottom of the page.

Matchup Length

This chart represents the distribution of matchup lengths, enabling you to select two races and analyze game lengths for those matchups. In addition to races, players can specify the MMR range and seasons to filter data within the chart.

Access this chart on the Overall Statistics page at the bottom.

We hope these new charts enhance your gaming analytics experience and provide insights for adjusting your strategies. As always, we appreciate your feedback!

A shoutout to the map makers

A lot of the work you see on the maps that are tirelessly updated every season is thanks to the MMC (Melee Mapping Central) community. You might see names like Tenshi, JaleVeliki, Kaer, Meerel, Mafe, SaveOrcas, rhythmt and more mentioned often but they are all a group of volunteers who love the game as much as we do and have spent a lot of cycles building these maps to be up-to-date for us to play and watch games on. Previously they worked with Blizzard to provide community maps for the BNET ladder. Updating existing maps (like LR, EI, SV, and TM) and improving them is also a significant effort that we want to show them gratitude for. You can always say hello, post suggestions, or join in, on their Discord server:

Build W3Champions together!

W3Champions is looking for .NET, TypeScript, and Rust developers

While we appreciate PR submissions, we are mainly interested in developers that are willing to commit time and take ownership of their projects. We have very little formal hierarchies and our approach is free-for-all. We are always open for a talk if you want to inquire more about how you can help!
